Richard G. Baumann, Emeritus Partner

Richard Baumann, a special advisor to SulmeyerKupetz, specializes in creditor representation in commercial collection matters. He is board certified as a Creditor’s Rights Specialist by the American Board of Specialization. Mr. Baumann served for over 30 years as a Judge Pro Tempore in the Los Angeles Superior Court system, and has been admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court. After serving as chairman of the Western Regional Members Association, he was elected to the Board of Governors of the Commercial Law League of America. In 1991, he was elected national President of the Commercial Law League of America, the nation’s preeminent organization of creditor’s rights professionals.

Mr. Baumann serves on the Board of Directors of the National Institute of Credit Management. He has been elected as a Fellow of the Commercial Law Foundation and is a member of the National Conference of Bar Presidents. He is an Associate Editor of the Commercial Law Journal. Mr. Baumann served on the Board of Directors of the Academy of Commercial and Bankruptcy Law Specialists, and on the Board of Directors of the American Board of Certification. He is the author of The American Lawyer’s Quarterly pamphlet, “Legal Aspects of Collecting an Account Receivable” and has lectured extensively and written on the subjects of commercial law, debtors and creditors, creditor’s rights, and commercial collections.

Mr. Baumann received his BS, cum laude, and his JD from University of Wisconsin. He is a member of the University of Wisconsin Law School Benchers Society. Mr. Baumann is listed in Who’s Who in America and Who’s Who in American Law, and was named a Southern California “Super Lawyer” in Los Angeles Magazine from 2004-2013.
